Last year Federer played Sampras in an exhibition match in KL after he finished the Masters Championship in Shanghai... a similar match is also planned this year... which is again in KL...

And I'd been hearing some rumors about some kind of similar match which was going to be held in Penang about this time... So I sort of assumed that someone was going to get these guys to swing up to Penang and play one day...
but while researching all this online for a friend who wanted to see the above match in KL..i discovered that there IS a match planned for Penang, and its something quite different:

but its seems to me that the PSC would be a much better venue for this kind of event....

Of course PSC would be a better, if not the best venue. But can you get our covered court ready in time!!??
Guys who decided on the Esplanade don't seem to know enough about tennis to realize that you can't do it on flat, open ground by the seaside with the strong breeze going. Even Federer won't be able to run around the backhand to hit an inside out forehand.
Then again, maybe they are thinking of putting that court inside Fort Cornwallis?
PISA would be a better place to stage it, so more people can get to see the greats.
I think the organiser didn't do enough preparation for this event. I don't hear any sponsor or promo for this event at all!
Despite all the issues, hopefully we'll get to see all the legends in Penang.
