PSC vs Kamakura Lawn Tennis

"And there is a Japanese Idol at Kamakura...
O ye who tread the Narrow Way
By Tophet-flare to judgment Day,
Be gentle when 'the heathen' pray
To Buddha at Kamakura! "

The first lines in the novel "Kim" by Rudyard Kipling written in 1901 (full poem available here: The Buddha at Kamakura )

For more info about the Giant Buddha at Kamakura click here.

The Penang Sports Club played a very enjoyable friendly match against the Kamakura Lawn Tennis club from Kamakura Japan on 25 Dec 2008 Christmas Day! The Kamakura Lawn Tennis club is a very old and prestigious club established in 1924.The Japanese players were delighted to play on our grass courts as for many of them it was a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to play on grass... Each of them played at least two matches and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Although the overall score was 7 -1 in favor of the Penang Sports club, the Kamakura team was made up of very skilled and steady players... In fact, four of the matches went to tie-break before the PSC's home field advantage tipped the balance in favor of the home side.

All in all it was a delightful day of tennis and we followed up with an great dinner , with lots of beer and with two bottles of Chivas contributed by the Japanese.
The Japanese were also very keen to play another match: karaoke after dinner...

Our PSC home team was also very strong for this event...
One Japanese told Jerry Moi, "You must be a Professional Singer!"

and lastly, while researching for this posting, i came across this lovely photo of Mt Fuji as seen from the beach at Kamakura....Wouldn't it be great to visit there and play tennis next year?

I was also delighted to learn that you can actually see a live webcam from the tennis courts of the Kamakura Lawn Tennis club ... to see it, click here

if you look carefully, you might see your opponents playing there now!

8th Straits Settlement Games

This year it was The Melacca club's turn to host the 8th Straits Settlement Games 6th to 7th Dec. There were 6 games in the series, Football, Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash, Badminton, & Snooker.

The Melacca club's sports center is about 10 Kilometers out of town at lovely location on the seaside...
We were to play both our matches on Sunday... so we had a good opportunity to view the opposition when Singapore Swimming club played the Malacca club on Saturday. Their tie ended 4 - 3 in favor of Malacca, but was not quite completed because of rain.

On Sunday morning, our tennis team whacked Singapore 6 -1 with several kosongs delivered... and the 1 loss was also a very close tie break in the ladies doubles....

We had seen the previous day's match get interrupted by rain and we tried to get the Malacca folks to start early , but the best we could do was to get them to start 2 pair at 3 pm with the clouds already threatening...

It looked as though we were going to repeat the same treatment for Malacca as our first mixed doubles pair was up 3 - 0 and our veterans were up 4 - 1 when the rain began to come down and we had to abandon the match.

As all three teams had played one match , it fell to a countback to award PSC the tennis championship based on our 6 -1 result against Singapore Swimming Club...

So tennis delivered for the PSC...but in the end the Straits Settlement Trophy wound up as a tie between PSC and the Malacca club...so the cup stays at Malacca for 6 months and then will be sent to PSC.

Audrey Oh Cup - PSC vs Royal Selangor Club

We played this match at home on 29 Nov 2008. This is one of the longer running annual matches that the tennis section plays. The match is between PSC and the Royal Selangor Club and was inaugurated in 1960. This means we have been playing this match for the past 48 years!

Before the match, we had a bit of confusion as we looked high and low for the Cup and couldn't find it at PSC... Eventually we learned that although we had won the match the last time it was played at RSC, we apparently were so well entertained by the RSC that we forgot to bring back the cup and it was still with them!

As our captain Loo Choo Teng was overseas, I was captain of the day for this match. About 40 of the RSC folks came by bus this time, but unfortunately i was informed by their convenor Mr. Kumar, that they could only convince one of their lady players to travel.

Thus we agreed upon a format of 6 Mens Doubles and 1 Mixed Doubles. First to reach 9 with a tie break at 8 all. The weather cooperated (it had been raining all morning) and we were able to start on-time at about 3:30 in the afternoon.

Our home ground advantage was a bit too tough for the RSC folks, but they played gamely. Their 4th pair nearly won a tie break against our young men, Wei Khah and Eric... but in the end PSC prevailed 7 - 0.

The RSC folks were understandably disappointed but they were able to drown their sorrows in a lot of beers and we had some great food from the new caterer...so everyone was pretty happy when we welcomed the cup back home!

YB Dato Freddy Choong Cup

The PSC put two teams into the other YB Dato Freddy Choong Cup competition (the annual match against Hat Yai is also referred to as Freddy Choong Cup ) on 18-19 Oct. The Freddy Choong Cup is for veterans 45 and above. Our PSC Red Team had a bye the first round and defeated FTS in the semi-final 2-1 . Our Red Team went on to win the final against Penang CRC 2-0.

The PSC Black team cleverly avoided a PSC vs PSC clash by losing in the first round and going on to victory in the Plate competition.

Our Captain, Loo Choo Teng, generously hosted a wonderful dinner at a Chinese Restaurant for both the teams as well as the tennis committee...

Well done PSC and congratulations to all the players and participants in this year's YB Dato Freddy Choong Cup.

PSC mixed doubles league

We had our annual mixed doubles league event on 8th and 9th November 2008. In the past, the league is a rather long drawn out affair lasting a few weeks... there is often scheduling problems, missed matches, and walkovers... So this year we decided to have it all in one go over one weekend..more like a tournament... except the format was round robin.

The response was quite good and the winners are as follows:

Group A Champions - Masami & Keiko "Go Sasaki Go!"
Runners up - Jos "Dutchman" Fraaije and Jenny "Karaoke" Khoo

Group B Champions - Loo Choo "Don't waste" Teng & Ngiam "Shiok" Li Sheok
Runners up - Dr. "Bones" Alif & Zurina "Ju Ju" Meah

Group C Champions - Robin "Netman" Cheah & Ivy "Never Miss" Goon
Runners up - Fuji "San" & Leanne "Profile" Cheam

Congratulations to the all the winners and participants and please give a nice word of thanks to Zurina for organizing the event this year.

PSC vs Hat Yai Municipality Tennis Club - Freddy Choong Cup

We were delighted that the folks from Hat Yai could come and visit us this year. Last year they had to postpone because of the elections and so forth... Mostly we were delighted because it means now we can go to Hat Yai next year....or next week!

The Hat Yai Team was captained by Colonel Soonthong but their true Patriarch is General Pingphang . Myself and KL Tan played a VIP friendly against the still strong 82 year old General Pingphang and his partner. We won by a nose 9 - 7...

The score of the Cup match was 5 - 2 but that scoreline doesn't show the anxiety that our Captain experienced when 4 of our top pairs started out losing...

EC and Datin Lau MA were down 1 - 7 , Robert and Sasaki were down , Lisa and Keiko were losing, as were Albert and Soon Hong...
Luckily Robert and Sasaki pulled thru in a tie break and we were all stunned to see Datin carry the balls off the court, indicating they miraculously recovered and also won by tie break!

Jim Arthur and Jimmy Boon sailed thru their match 9 - 0 and Koay and Chee also won as did Naidu and Paul Lim...

After having narrowly escaped disaster... we began to relax as the beer began to flow and our visitors enjoyed a nice buffet dinner with plenty of food, beer and karaoke.
We certainly look forward to visiting Hat Yai next year.... or next week!

Courts 1 - 4 are OPEN!

Our resurfacing project for courts 1 - 4 was completed on 25 September 2008 and the courts are once again open for members to play. As you can see from this photo, we decided to go with dark green courts, a light green outer court and white lines... This makes it quite a bit easier to make line calls when the yellow ball strikes the white line, unlike the yellow lines on our old courts.

The courts are new and 19 mm thick, so the first thing you notice is that they feel very much more "cushiony" and comfortable to your joints than our old courts which have worn down to around 5 mm and now feel almost like hard courts. This difference in thickness , as well as the fresh sand dressing, makes a slow ball sit up a bit more... so you have plenty of time to hit it... thus, you may describe this surface behaviour as "slow"... However, the material has a lower coefficient of friction than the old courts, and if you whack a serve or a strong shot with a lot of pace, the ball will "shoot" ...the surface can be surprisingly fast and grass-like in that situation... Also, you can "slide" quite well on these courts, even though they are brand new and yet to be "broken in".

Before we laid the new courts, I was a bit concerned about this "slippery-ness" when playing on the courts when they are wet, but I played in the rain yesterday and was delighted to find the footing to be very sure and I had absolutely no sense of it being too slippery or dangerous to play on when wet. Only effect was slightly more tendency of the ball to shoot as described above...

The other thing I was delighted to see was that the ponding situation has been improved immensely on courts 1 - 4... During yesterday's heavy rain, courts 1 - 4 were still playable with very little ponding, while courts 5 - 8 were completely flooded... The only thing i noticed about the new courts is that they have a slight tendancy to trap air and form sort of a blister or bubble underneath...but this is not dangerous, and it quickly disappears about the same time the court drains completely. Finally, members should be aware that the sand dressing will be an ongoing process. The heavy rains recently will distribute the sand unevenly... We are aware of this and have scheduled the next round of sand dressing for 15 Oct 2008. This will be done during the day and should not affect your club nite play...

Come out and have a hit on the new courts and tell me what you think of them... I'll be delighted to hear your comments!

PSC vs CRC Taiping

As part of the annual series of games, we hosted CRC Taiping for tennis on 27 Sept 2008. Our Wong Poh Lam was our Captain of the day for this event... The CRC Taiping team was a bit short handed... so we were gifted two walkovers ... We lost in our first pair, and our mixed doubles pair...but we went on to win the rest of the matches for a final score of 5 - 2.

Sabah team tennis invitational

We got an invitation to the Inaugural Sabah Team Tennis Invitational when we were playing at Raintree earlier this year... One of the Sandakan fellows passed us the invitation.... We thought it would be nice to play in Kota Kinabalu since we were planning to go there for a friendly match with another club anyway.... Also the venue turned out to be the incredibly beautiful Sutera Harbor Resort...
Pictures really can't describe how beautiful this place is...but if you're like me and haven't been to Kota Kinabalu in 12 years or so..its really worth going to see how nicely they've done up this resort...

We took a team of 13 players... all of which you can tell from the smiles below enjoyed themselves...
Most probably, those smiles were as much from the food in KK as the tennis... Here's an example of the giant tiger prawns you can get over there, note the size in relation to lisa's hand holding the fork

The lovely sunsets in Kota Kinabalu also contributed to the smiles

The tennis venue was also very nice with 3 covered courts and 2 outdoor courts. The covering was a reinforced fabric canopy structure and it provided excellent relief from the heat... play was comfortable throughout the day... although we all had some difficulties with seeing the ball and tracking it for volleys and overheads...

If you can't tell by my writing so far, the tennis on this trip was considerably more relaxed than other tournaments... and as there were eight teams participating in a knockout format, we rather unexpectedly found our selves in the finals after only two rounds....

The final was played indoors on Sunday 14 September against a team from Tarakan, Indonesia... They were an extremely fast group of players... Our ladies had a tough time of it. Lisa and Keiko lost the first set and had to go to super tie break to win their point. Our men's 45, Nick and Soon Hong put up a good fight, nearly forcing a super tie break in their second set before coming up short 5-7. Our chances were still looking good with Robert and Sasaki up one set and our heroes Jin Ghee and Otto yet to play... However, even though they puasa (muslim fasting) the Tarakan veterans were too "fast" for our veterans and managed to force and win the super tie break... and their men's 35 were even faster! they beat our captain and Koay in straight sets.... this left our heroes to playing an entertaining exhibition match as the Indonesians were already up 3 -1...
Nevertheless...we certainly enjoyed ourselves and the captain happily accepted the runner's up check for $1000 !

Kings of Tennis?

Last year Federer played Sampras in an exhibition match in KL after he finished the Masters Championship in Shanghai... a similar match is also planned this year... which is again in KL...

http://www.showdownkl2008.com/

this time Federer supposed to play Nadal... and/or Blake... plus some more matches with former greats Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe on 18th November

And I'd been hearing some rumors about some kind of similar match which was going to be held in Penang about this time... So I sort of assumed that someone was going to get these guys to swing up to Penang and play one day...

but while researching all this online for a friend who wanted to see the above match in KL..i discovered that there IS a match planned for Penang, and its something quite different:

http://www.kingsoftennis.com/

rumor has it that the venue is planned to be a portable court set up in the Esplanade...

this seems to be borne out by this link

http://www.kingsoftennis.com/aboutmalaysia.html

but its seems to me that the PSC would be a much better venue for this kind of event....

Do you agree?

Court resurfacing update

Dismantling of courts 1 -4 started on 25 August. By 31 August, we were ready for checking the flatness of the slabs. We estimate that the slabs were poured about 25 years ago and I was a bit worried about their condition. First thing we want to do is check for any low spots where water will form ponds when it rains...

We instructed the supplier to conduct flatness testing with strings by putting nails at 2 meter intervals along the edges of the court and stretching strings across the court to form 2 X 2 meter grid pattern.

We then check the flatness along each of the 4 sides of each box of the resulting grid pattern.

So we check the gap between the string and we identify any areas with a 5 mm or more gap over a 2 Meter run.

The string test identified a few areas like the one above... and the vendor will repatch these areas and we'll run a final "live" ponding test by intentionally flooding the courts with water later in the week.

The slabs were in surprisingly good condition except that we found a few dozen "holes" about 1 inch in diameter scattered all over. We eventually identified these as places where wooden stakes were used to level the slabs during pouring back in the 80's . The wood has since rotted away, and rain running through the holes has created small voids of various depths. In the photo below, the vendor is checking the depth and extent of one of these holes... this one turned out to be over a foot deep and perhaps 6 inches in diameter. We won't hack these up, as that would do more damage than good... instead we'll fill them as best we can and seal them with concrete...

Work on all four courts is scheduled to finish by the end of October, but the vendor is well ahead of schedule and I think we may be able to play on them again by the end of September if we continue to have good weather...

Court Resurfacing Update

Most of us refer to courts 1 - 8 as "Omnicourts", but that's actually a long forgotten brandname. The correct term for this type of court is Synthetic Turf. As previously mentioned, after much research and debate, the club has awarded the contract for resurfacing Courts 1 -4 to Tennis Court Builders, using Grassman Topflight 19 Synthetic Turf. The contract commenced on 28 July, 2008 and will be completed by 20 October. (12 weeks)

The new court carpets were manufactured to our specifications at the end of July and are currently being shipped from Australia to Malaysia. They are expected to arrive in the next week or two, so the current schedule has them shutting down courts 1 & 2 on 25 August to demolish the existing carpets and begin reconditioning the concrete base. Courts 3 & 4 will shut down shortly thereafter and it is expected that reconditioning (patching and filling the concrete) will be complete by 8 September.

It will then take a couple of weeks to lay the new carpets and in-fill them with sand. The contract schedule has a bit of slack in it at this point to allow for any bad weather , and thus the carpets are scheduled to finish laying on 06 October and sand in-filling is scheduled to complete by 20 October.

Its quite possible that if weather is good, they may finish well before this schedule, bearing in mind that the contract has significant penalties for the vendor if construction drags on beyond 06 October. Thus, the schedule provided by the vendor is pretty conservative.

It should be noted that these courts will be two tone, with a dark green interior and a light green exterior (it was felt that green fits in to the club surroundings better than blue)... and these courts will have "integrated" base lines (meaning the base lines are woven into the carpets) and the lines will be white, to improve contrast vs the yellow ball.

The Grassman TopFlight 19 is a "3rd generation" of synthetic turf. The materials used in the carpet represent the "state of the art" in synthetic court surfaces, and we expect them to provide a very suitable and long lasting surface to play on.

Also as Tennis Court Builders has previously successfully resurfaced the PSC courts several times before, we are very confident that they will once again do an excellent job of providing us a nice set of courts to play on for many years to come.

PSC vs Kelab Sungai Petani

I always approach our annual match against the SP club with mixed loyalties because in truth, the first club i joined in Malaysia was the SP club almost 20 years ago and I remain an absent member.... I always look forward to catching up with my old kaki's there and this year was no exception...

We travelled to Sungai Petani on 2 Aug. 2008 as part of a series of games. Our Captain of the Day was Koay Theam Hock.... This years line up was Tennis, Darts, Table Tennis, Badminton , and Hockey. Saturday is a working day in SP so their players were coming in a bit scattered... So our first pair to go down was KK "What do you call that?" Chee and Ooi Soon Hong ... They played a very entertaining match against two of the craftiest players in Kedah, Hang and Shamugam... our Chee had to run like hell to keep up with those foxes... Sham still showing some brilliant touch at the net... But in the end Chee and Soon Hong emerged on top.

Dr. Michael Oh boasted that he could "sure win" if he was allowed to partner Robin Cheah. In fact, he insisted he would buy one table if he failed to deliver the match. Our Captain readily agreed and offered to put them down as first doubles!!!! Michael immediately reconsidered and fixed his stake at "10 Stouts" and he and Robin went down as Third doubles...

They put up a good fight... and both Michael and Robin made some spectacular saves...but eventually went down 4 - 8... So it looks like someone will be enjoying 10 stouts at the club soon... or will it be 1 stout and 10 straws?

Our Japanese Players had all come early in the morning to play golf... A rather tired looking Toida partnered Loo Choo Teng against one father and son team and managed to defeat them.

The morning Golf didn't seem to bother Sasaki a bit and he and Annette ground their opponents down in no time.

Robert and Koay had no troubles in their match... nor did Lisa when she partnered Robert in the other mixed doubles.

Dr. Khushpal and I couldn't find our form and earn even a single break against our opponents and donated another point to SP...

In the end it was PSC 6 -2 KSP .... and the PSC won the series overall but as usual, no one talked much about the score during dinner where a good time was had by all.

PSC vs Betong Tennis Club

Sawadikap!

Dr. Danai and the folks in Betong always treat us with the greatest hospitality, and we did our best to repay them when they came to play on 19 July 2008. Zurina was our captain for the day, but we took turns helping her out... Our captain Loo Choo Teng beefed up our team a bit to ensure we didn't get slaughtered by the Thai's...

and its a good thing we did because even then we struggled a bit with two of our pairs losing their matches... and two other of the seven matches going to 9-7.... We could have easily lost those two and found ourselves down 3 -4 overall, but we managed to pull thru those two and won the day 5 -2 .

But we don't talk to much about the score.... "Mai Pen Rai !" The dinner and the friends are more important...

Both us and our visitors really had a good time and I think everyone enjoyed the food, drinks and good friends... We look forward to going to visit Betong next week .... oops i mean next year!

King's Cup Triangular Match - Kota Bahru

This year's venue for the Annual Triangular Match between PSC, Kota Bahru and Sungai Golok was at the Kelantan Golf and Country Club in Kota Bahru on 12 July 2008. We've been playing this triangular since 2000 and we always approach the away legs of this Triangle with the expectation that we can only beat Kelantan and never defeat the Thais, because they always can assemble a powerful team from all over southern Thailand.

Kota Bahru is only 230 Kilometers from Penang (according to my GPS), but the journey by car takes 5 hours or more , much of it twisty and winding thru the central range that divides the east coast from the west coast of Malaysia... Despite a new highway that eliminates some of the journey... several of us elected to ride the "Firefly"
Firefly was great. Flight was smooth, comfortable and short. Scheduled for 1 hour , we where on the ground in 45 minutes and actual flying time was less than 30 minutes...

Jimmy Boon, Naidu and Mani hit some bad weather when they flew over on Thursday. Their flight was delayed about three hours... its not known what they did with their extra time on the east coast, but whatever it was, they were in poor condition to play on Saturday..

Our first match was against Kelantan, as the Thais were a bit late to turn up... The format was 2 mens, 1 veterans, 1 mixed and 1 ladies doubles... first to reach 9, tie-break at 8 all... We felt we had a pretty strong team, but it quickly became apparent that our men had expended their energy elsewhere. They were absolutely useless against Kelantan... The only exception was our ever-consistent and ever-ready Japanese, Mr. Sasaki , who partnered his wife, Keiko and tormented their mixed doubles opponents and secured the first point for us. Our ladies also swept to victory 9-Love with Lisa partnering our "Chili Padi" , Jawairiah Noordin, (Ladies #1 in Malaysia, Juniors #152 in the World and soon to start touring on the WTA).

We just needed one of the men's pairs to win the tie... but Ooi Soon Hong and Jawairiah's father Noordin went down 5-9. We were still feeling pretty confident as KK Chee and Nik "Shwa Pow" Chua started out leading 4 -1... but they quickly fell apart and KK Chee found himself using the last of his energy to save 3 match points at 5-8 before losing 6-9.

Jimmy Boon and Naidu played the decider but were apparently still feeling the effects of their nite time activities and also crashed out... and thus we lost to Kelantan for the first time in history...

Our Captain, Loo Choo Teng, who is normally the loudest voice in the vicinity suddenly went "Boh Sia" and gave up on our chances ... he got so disgusted that he went off to "Curi Ayam".... (no, not that kind) ... He went to buy Ayam Percik and Murtabok from the famous Yati Ayam Percik where some of us had dinner the nite before.

We fully expected to be slaughtered by the Thais after lunch... but we had the good fortune to watch the Kelantanese play them first. It became apparent as Kelantan stretched the Thais to 3 2 before going down, that if we could repeat our success in the ladies and the mixed doubles, we might be able to snatch 2nd place on count back, if one of our men could raise their game and get one more point against the thais... Kelantan assumed we were going to field the same team as before, (as did the Thais), but I called the Captain while on his chicken expedition and we agreed to juggle the team and see what we could salvage.

Once I clarified with the Kelantan folks that we had not submitted our team for the final round against Sungai Golok, we had a little pow-wow and selected our players... We decided to split Lisa and Jawairiah. We paired Lisa with Keiko Sasaki, and put Jawairiah with her father Noordin. We moved Soon Hong up the veteran's with Mr. Sasaki, and put "Shwah Pow" with Mani as second doubles. All these changes seemed to catch the Thais off guard and they attempted to amend their lineup after submission, but this was disallowed...

KK Chee and Jimmy Boon strapped on their body armor but were murdered by stray bullets from the Thai first doubles pair... but then Lisa and Keiko almost won by default when half the thai team went on the court when one of their ladies twisted her ankle...but there was no reason for us to win that way, because they made short work of their opponents, beating them 9 1 . Then the moment Jawairiah opened fire with her "cannon" overhead and demolished her opponents 9 0 we knew our stategy might work...

We really started cheering when Soon Hong suddenly found his form and together with Sasaki delivered another kosong to the Thai veterans. We checked the previous round results and did a few calculations and realized if we didn't win anything else, we'd still win the tournament on count back because of the large number of kosong's we'd recorded...

Then the Kelantanese folks realized if we beat the thais 4-1, that would put Kota Bahru in second place for the first time in history... so suddenly Nik and Mani had twice as many supporters! They didn't disappoint and they sent the thai's packing 9 -1 and so we managed to win the cup on the road for the first time in history.

The Kelantanese folks were great hosts and we had wonderful food and very warm hospitality from their Captain Abdul Hadi and the rest of the fine folks at the Kelantan Golf and Country Club..

The PSC was really on a roll that day, because we not only won the King's Cup, but we also won the banana eating contest as well as the "Boat Race"!

We really look forward to meeting them all again next year. But Encik Hadi warned us that Thai's will likely be looking for revenge when we all meet up again in Sungai Golok!

Blue courts?

We've completed our evaluations of the tennis court resurfacing quotations and made our recommendations to the GC and tender board. They'll be making the final decision on contract, but the Ad-hoc resurfacing committee and the GC have done an excellent job of refining the quotations so that either vendor's product should be suitable for our players... Just to recap a few things that I can tell you before the contract is awarded: We are recommending that 4 courts be resurfaced at this time , we are also recommending recycling some of the old turf to repair the remaining 4 courts until their resurfacing later, the completion time for resurfacing 4 courts is 12 weeks (3 months) from time of awarding of contract. We requested that they shutdown 2 courts first to try to maximize playing time for our members before the courts are closed for resurfacing...
One thing we haven't discussed is the color choice for the courts... we sort of assumed all along that we would maintain light green/dark green but many members of the GC and ad hoc committee were rather pleasantly shocked to see Blue courts as a possible color choice.... what do you think of this possibility for either the courts themselves or the backcourts?

PSC vs Kulim Club

PSC tennis played host to the Kulim Club on 28 June 2008 as part of the Oh Teik Aun Cup series. Our own KK Chee was tennis captain of the day... He was a bit unsure if he should play until the section captain, Loo Choo Teng, reminded him "It's a cup match... You must Win!"

Perhaps also feeling a bit of heat for losing while playing 3rd doubles in Sitiawan, Chee put up a merciless team that took no pity upon Kulim winning 6-0....

But of course, we also made sure the nice folks from Kulim enjoyed themselves afterwards with pleny of beer and good food. We'll definitely look forward to meeting them all in Kulim next year.
